1984 – Incorporated as Bhagwati Steel Rolling Mills Pvt. Ltd. (now Bhagwati Steel Cast Pvt. Ltd. [BSCPL]), the Bhagwati Group traces its roots nearly 3 decades back when it was born with the commissioning of a Steel Rolling Mill at Guwahati, Assam. The mill produced Steel Reinforcement Bars and had a 12,000 MTPA manufacturing capacity.
1987 – The next defining milestone for the Group was a backward integration project in (again in Guwahati) where we set up an M S Ingots manufacturing unit which was subsequently scaled up to cater to the entire requirement of the steel rolling mill.
1997 – Having established its presence in East India, the Group later shifted its attention towards the West, setting up an Induction Furnace unit for manufacturing of M. S. Ingots in the Sinnar MIDC Industrial Area (Nashik District). The manufacturing of M. S. Ingots was later discontinued as we upgraded to manufacturing M. S. Billets. We repeatedly expanded the capacity of billet manufacturing to its present-day capacity of 1,00,000 MTPA. Further, we diversified our manufacturing operations at Sinnar, setting up a 1,09,000 MTPA capacity of manufacturing Thermo Mechanically Treated (TMT) Steel Bars using the internationally acclaimed ‘Tempcore’ technology of CRM, Belgium. Today, we are directly rolling 100% of the M.S. Billet we manufacture to produce TMT bars, to achieve substantial energy saving and cost control as well as gaining a commercial edge over our competition.
2012 – We further increased our billets manufacturing capacity by commissioning a new unit at Sinnar with a 1,50,000 MTPA under our subsidiary (Bhagwati Ferro Metal Pvt. Ltd.).
2021 – Buoyed by the successes that the Group has been able to achieve so far, the newly added billet manufacturing unit was
converted into a TMT bar manufacturing facility with an equivalent capacity through forward integration. This has
allowed the Group to be able to unlock full value across the manufacturing chain.
